Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

The short version: Note Names collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no servers of ours. Reading your music happens entirely on your device. The only outside services involved are Apple's App Store and Google Play, when you buy the optional unlock or leave a rating.

What Note Names is

Note Names (formerly MusicSubtitles) is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android that reads sheet-music PDFs and shows the letter name of each note directly on the page, so you can play first and learn notation as you go. This policy covers the app on every platform; it is published by the same independent developer, ionr digital.

Your sheet music stays on your device

When you import a PDF, the app reads it using a machine-learning model that runs entirely on your device. Your files are never uploaded anywhere — the app makes no network requests to process them, and works fully offline.

What we collect

Nothing. We run no servers and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It makes no network requests to read your music.

To sell the optional unlock and to show the system rating prompt, the app uses Apple's StoreKit on iPhone and iPad and Google Play's billing and in-app review components on Android. When you use those features, Apple or Google processes the purchase and may collect purchase records and diagnostic information about it, under their own privacy policies (Apple, Google). The app itself only learns whether the unlock has been bought; it never sees your payment details, name or account.

Purchases

The app is free to download, with an optional one-time purchase to unlock unlimited imports. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details; the store only tells the app whether the unlock has been bought.

Store statistics

Apple and Google may share aggregate, anonymized statistics with us (such as download counts, and crash reports if you have chosen to share them with developers in your device settings). These come from the stores, contain no identity or content, and are the only information we ever see.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects no data from children.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behavior ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated first, with the date above.
